V. Competency Goals and Overview

Goal 1:  Studentswill demonstrate skill in using a computer and the Local Area Network (LAN) as tools for completing meaningfulprojects.

Goal 2:  Studentswill use a word processor as a writing and publishing tool.

Goal 3:  Studentswill participate in curriculum based projects that use a spreadsheet to analyze, manipulate, and predictdata.

Goal 4:  Studentswill participate in curriculum based projects that use a database to access, manipulate, and utilizeinformation.

Goal 5:  Studentswill participate in curriculum based projects that use a multimediapresentation programto manipulate and present information to large audiences.

Goal 6:  Studentswill participate in curriculum based projects that use telecommunications including distance learning, theInternet, and the World Wide [1]Web,to interact with other students, and connect with outside resources toresearch, retrieve, and share ideas and information.

Goal 7:  Studentswill use technology to support, reinforce, or enhance other curriculumobjectives.

Thefollowing key will be needed to interpret the attached Computer/TechnologyScope and Sequence

I = INTRODUCTION, indicates the suggested level ofintroduction of the concept or skill.

R = REINFORCEMENT, indicates that students have beenintroduced to the concept or skill and need additional instruction to masterthe skill or continued reinforcement to maintain mastery.

M = MASTERY, indicates that the average studentshould have grasped the concept or skill by this level.

Note: all objective statements (pastthe exploratory stage in the Scope and Sequence) have been written according tothe verb classifications in BloomÕs Taxonomy--see appendix.
